In a former private bank in Marseille’s Réformés district, behind a Belle Époque façade and a courtyard with a surprising rockwork setting, Maxime Vignolles has transformed 170 square metres steeped in history into a contemporary art gallery. Named MadmaX—a nod to his first name and to a project he readily admits is a little crazy, rather than to the famous film—this new arrival is part of Marseille’s burgeoning contemporary art scene.
