Marseille has come out ! It is official, she likes\u00a0the sea even though her boats rarely leave the port. She is taking\u00a0even more care of her beaches by installing showers, toilets, trash\u00a0cans and storage facilities. Her view is even wider than her shore, just\u00a0like this attractive bench facing the sea at Les Catalans (see Cover).\u00a0But Marseille is sometimes overzealous in her frenzy to beautify her\u00a0coastline; a number of small “cabanons” (huts) and beach restaurants\u00a0were built without permission. Yet with time, are they not part of the\u00a0decor and even contribute to the popular charm of our coastline, like\u00a0the pizza trucks at the intersections of our avenues? Let us hope that\u00a0the current reprieves will be transformed in permanent authorisation\u00a0so that the uncertain shoreline become a popular venue instead of a\u00a0promenade without taste or smell.<\/p>\n
