Some songs matter just as much for the memories they create as for the melodies they carry. That’s precisely what drives Top Évasion. Since 2019, this six-piece outfit—Max, Roman, Elsa, Jérémie, Philippe, and Nicolas—has been crafting sun-drenched, textured pop that gets your head nodding almost instinctively. Yet beneath their mischievous arrangements and breezy, beach-infused melodies lies a story of friendship, fertile creative questioning, and live performances that become a powerful way of bringing people together.
There’s always a certain buzz when it’s time to meet up with Top Évasion again. First, because these six musicians have an infectious warmth. And then because the way they tell stories, play music, and welcome us into one of their rehearsals feels both deeply intimate and strikingly authentic.
Branded plastic cups come out—deliberately shunning the formality of wine glasses—and are filled with a local white picked up at a neighborhood supermarket in La Capelette. It’s the perfect catalyst for an uninhibited conversation about their influences, their poetry of everyday life, their self-deprecating humor, their ambitions, and their remarkable willingness to lay themselves bare.
Their rehearsal space on Rue Saint-Pierre is an escape in every sense of the word. It feels like a neighborhood somewhere in Mexico, suspended between Marseille and an imagined elsewhere. That evening, between sips of white wine and a cascade of chords, the six friends revealed themselves to be generous, attentive, and deeply inspired.
With immense talent and disarming modesty, they turn their world into music. Top Évasion is more than a band—it’s a vibration. And it’s one we savor without restraint.
